Bellingham Threshold Singers will host a talk about aggressive life-saving measures that are performed in hospital emergency rooms. Two experienced intensive-care nurses will explain what these procedures are and the outcomes that people, particularly elderly people, can expect.
The goal of this presentation is to make people aware of the choices they can make regarding emergency procedures, especially when those interventions are likely to produce an undesirable outcome.
Many people who have attended this talk have been inspired to have conversations with their families regarding their wishes and to complete paperwork instructing doctors what procedures they do and do not want to have performed.
